In the past years
the team has won the European Championships six times and is a regular
top 3 competitor in the Euro-Cup series as well as the German
championships, which the team has won over a dozen times. From
year one Claas has been the main sponsor of the team and supports it
with technology and parts. In fact a lot of the parts you see on the
tractor were built at the Claas plant in Harsewinkel.
The tractor that
is competing now was built in 2002 and is the ninth and latest creation
of the team. It is powered by up to two Allison V1710 Allison
engines, equipped with a lot of high performance parts of which a lot
were developed by the team itself. The chassis of the tractor was
constructed out of Chrome Molly tubing in the workshop of the team. All
the gears and shafts in driveline were built by Hoener, a little company
specialised in building gears for prototypes, while the housings of the
Reverser and Cross box were build at Claas. The rear-end is
homemade and consists out of a billet aluminium carrier with custom made
ring & pinion gears, billet aluminium planetaries with ZF gears.
This is the first
time the Team is competing outside of Europe and the team is really
anxious to figure out how they compare in the homeland of Tractor
Pulling and how quickly they can adapt to the California tracks.
The tractor will
be driven by Tobias Hoerstkamp and Daniel Frische while Sascha Mecking
has come along to help behind the scenes. |
